This heraldic arrangement displays a marital situation. Both a husband and wife’s coat of arms are placed side by side and inclined towards one another (convergent or divergent). In this composition it’s common for a woman to wear a shield similar to her husband’s, instead of a lozenge.

The shields are surmounted by a helmet (in the middle) with the crest of the husband’s arms or a coronet instead. If the bearers hold a noble title, the ensemble will be surmounted by a coronet accordingly.
